PublicArt Works have been appointed as curator and project manager for the flagship Mirvac site, St Leonards Square.
The initial thematic approach is aligned to the Sissons Architects architectural concept and the Arcadia landscape design concept, which takes as its starting point the unique geology of the Sydney Basin, and the harbour-side character of the Lane Cove municipality.
The forms, textures and patterns of the local geology, archaeology, ecology, topography and landscape are to form the core thematic approach of the artist’s brief.
A key objective for the artwork is to bring nature into the space – providing a counter point to the built form, softening the space, and providing some abstracted and interpretive references to the locale. The art will meld the Square’s sleek urban architecture and nature, captured in the landscape of the ground plane.
