Merran Morrison has been appointed as public art advisor to Transport for NSW on Sydney Metro North West. The 2-3 year appointment involves providing technical advice to TfNSW on the development of the art strategy and artwork for the 8 new stations by the station delivery design team.
Artists appointed by the station delivery team have appointed artists Michaelie Crawford (Turpin Crawford Studios) and Peter McGreggor (McGregor Westlake Architects) have been embedded in the Hassell Design Studio for the past 12 months to address the public art requirements for the initial section of the Metro from Cherrybrook to Rouse Hill.
Merran has worked with TfNSW since 2009 advocating for public art in stations, and in 2012 prepared the Public Art Guidelines for what was then North West Rail Link.
